Johannesburg metro police spokesperson Xolani Fihla says two lanes were affected.

“The e-hailing motor services operators are protesting using a drive-slow motorcade. They were on the M1 North and then they off-ramped at the Buccleuch interchange joining the N1 South. Currently it is reported that they have off-ramped off William Nicol and only two lanes on the N1 South heading towards William Nicol are affected.

Fihla says the reason for the protest is not yet known.

“At the present moment we are not too sure what’s their reason for the protest but we do have officers who are monitoring the situation.”
