Protestors barricade roads in Nigel
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Ekurhuleni metro police spokesperson Ignatius Maphike has urged motorists to use alternative roads amid Thursday’s protest action.
It is believed that community members of Alra Park are angry over poor service delivery in the area.
Community members of Alra Park in Nigel took to the streets on Thursday morning, burning tyres and blockading roads.
Affected roads included the Secunda, Devon, Heidelberg and Nigel.
Maphike has urged motorists to exercise caution.
“Members of the SAPS and EMPD are on scene to monitor the situation. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes like the N17 coming from Springs and the N17 coming from the Secunda Road.”
