Protestors torch three trucks in Phalaborwa

Police in Limpopo are investigating cases of malicious damage to property after protesters burned down three trucks on Wednesday.
Residents of Namakgale were protesting against the lack of water tankers in the Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality.
Residents claim to have been without water since last week Thursday.
Police say the community members went on the rampage, barricading the R40 and R71 with stones, branches of trees and burning tyres.
"Allegedly, some unruly and opportunistic criminals took advantage of the protest, thus attacking three truck drivers and ordering them out of the trucks in the process,” says police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba.
"They then searched them and robbed them of their cell phones. They then went on to burn their trucks as well.”
He says the damage is estimated at R2 million.
No arrests have been made.
