PSA and Fedusa team up for looming Home Affairs strike
Updated | By Pieter van der Merwe
The Public Servants Association (PSA) says it can't rule out a nationwide strike at the Department of Home Affairs, should negotiations collapse in coming weeks.

"On 6 June we will be going back for conciliation and if things are not working out favourably for our members, we will be registering a strike," says PSA General Manager Ivan Fredericks.
PSA has announced its affiliation with labour federation the Federation of Unions of South Africa (Fedusa), complementing the a-political structure with an additional 230 000 members.
Fredericks says they are only concerned about members' well-being.
"The PSA wants to ensure that the union, together with Fedusa, is in the best position to fulfil its members' mandate. The PSA has often not signed agreements that were not to the benefit of employees, unlike other unions who are politically inclined and aligned," says Fredericks.
Fedusa's Frank Nxumalo earlier said public servants are being blamed for mismanagement and corruption in government departments, while they are "simply following instructions".
Fedusa is also demanding that the pensions and investments of public servants be protected at all cost.
