Public consultations over Tshwane’s ‘illegal tariff increase’ kicks off

The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) has urged Tshwane residents to attend the hearings and make their voices heard on the tariff increase of at least 13%.
Burgers Park Hotel in Tshwane is expected to be a hive of activity as Tshwane’s officials are set to explain the alleged illegal implementation of the electricity tariff increase.
The public hearings kick-off at 10AM on Thursday.

“So far we have thirty stakeholders that have requested to present in tomorrow’s public hearing. We also received confirmation that the City of Tshwane, as an applicant, will also be at the public hearing,” says Nersa’s Nomfundo Maseti.
Lobby group Afriforum’s bid for the metro to account in the high court in Pretoria was postponed indefinitely on Tuesday.
The parties were ordered to try and settle the matter out of court.
