Kinnear, who was an Anti-Gang Unit section commander, was gunned down in his car at his home in Bishop Lavis in Cape Town on Friday.

The 52-year old has investigated several high-profile cases in the Western Cape, including the extortion case of alleged Cape Town underworld figure Nafiz Modack.

Organisation Forensics For Justice’s Paul O'Sullivan says something has to be done.

"We were formed to fight police corruption and corruption within the criminal justice system. We will not stand by when the criminal underworld assassinate ethical and hard-working cops just because they want to stay out of prison.

“We decided to make a reward of a million rand for information which will lead to the arrest and conviction of the people who arranged the murder of Lieutenant Colonel Charl Kinnear.”

He says the aim is to arrest whoever arranged the murder.

"it will be nice to arrest the hitman as well, but we are interested in people who arranged the murder. This has gone for long enough and we have to stop it. These people are giving up their lives for this country, South Africa have to stand behind them and say enough is enough.”

O'Sullivan who is an experience private investigator, says the organisation will also carry out its own investigation.

"We are going to carry out our own investigation. The problem is that the criminal justice system is captured, we have law enforcement officials on the payroll of criminals.

“If we can trust the Hawks we can work with them, but the problem is we must be careful about who we work with."
