Ramaphosa applauds ‘milestone’ recruitment of 10k cops

President Cyril Ramaphosa has lauded the recruitment strategy of the South African Police Services at a passing out parade in Tshwane on Tuesday morning.
The latest recruitments will see 10 000 qualified forensic scientists, criminologists and policing science experts join the service.
Ramaphosa told the newly trained cops that being a police officer is not merely a job, but a calling to protect and serve communities.
The officers will be deployed at various police stations around the country in a bid to increase visibility on the ground during the festive season and beyond.
“It is for this reason that during the State of the Nation Address in February this year, we made a commitment to recruit and train an additional 12 000 new police personnel.
“Today is a great milestone in the implementation of that commitment, as the SAPS’s ‘Project Ten Thousand’ comes to fruition.
“As Minister Cele indicated, we have 9 252 new police constables who have successfully completed the required nine months of intensive training at the various police training academies across the country and at the SANDF facilities in the Northern Cape.”
