Ramaphosa: Carnage on SA roads will only stop with change of attitude

President Cyril Ramaphosa believes the death toll on the country’s roads will only come down when the attitude of South African drivers change.
Ramaphosa made the remarks at the launch of Transport Month at the Heidelberg Weighbridge on Saturday.
Transport Month is celebrated annually in October.
Ramaphosa was joined at the launch by Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula and Gauteng Premier David Makhura.

Ramaphosa warned that the responsibility for safer roads does not only fall on law enforcement officers.
"Many people die from accidents that should not have happened and this will only change when our attitude changes as drivers.
"We must stop this dire situation for the sake of preserving our people.
"In addition to immense human cost of these accident there is obviously a significant economic costs. Such accidents cost an estimated R147 billion a year."
