Ramaphosa: South Africans must vote out politicians who abuse power
Updated | By Karabo Tebele
President Cyril Ramaphosa has urged South Africans to use the power of the vote to get rid of political parties and politicians who fail to provide adequate service delivery.
Ramaphosa delivered the keynote address during the Freedom Day celebrations in Botshabelo in the Free State.
Ramaphosa said South Africans must use their vote as a weapon to hold politicians accountable.
"Exercising our right to vote is by far the most powerful form of protest.
"If those who claim to serve you are not doing so, vote them out, take them out because that is one weapon, we all have," said Ramaphosa.
"Demonstrate to them that you don't approve of the way they are running things, if they are stealing money, vote them out and take them out through the vote."
The local government elections will be held on Wednesday, 27 October.
