Ramaphosa: There will be no 'smash-and-grab' of land
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
President Cyril Ramaphosa has moved to reassure some South Africans who have expressed concern following the adoption of a motion for a committee to review Section 25 of the Constitution.
Ramaphosa admitted in the House of Traditional Leaders that the plans to expropriate land without compensation is causing anxiety in certain sectors of society.
"There will be no smash-and-grab of land in our country. That we will not allow," Ramaphosa said during his reply to the debate on his opening address in the House of Traditional Leaders on Thursday.
The scope and nature of the resolution is yet to be determined.

"Some have become very hopeful. Some have become very fearful. It is a question that we will continue to handle with care and responsibility as government," Ramaphosa said
The president blasted Afriforum after the movement sent a warning to the international community over "threat of property rights" in the country.
"There are some who are seeking to drive fear in the hearts South Africans and international community about this matter. Some have even been involved in sending messages to international investors and saying that it is no longer safe to invest in South Africa."
He says he will engage in a dialogue with key stakeholders soon.
