President Cyril Ramaphosa has indicated the African National
Congress (ANC) intends to be in power in South Africa for decades to come.
Speaking at a gala dinner in Thoyandou in Limpopo on Friday night, Ramaphosa said the governing party will focus on growing the country after the upcoming elections through implementation of various strategies.
"We are here in the province of Limpopo to communicate the message that we are ready to do more, not only over the next 5 years, but over the next 25 years," said Ramaphosa.
Ramaphosa reiterated the ANC’s commitment to the fight against corruption and state capture.
"In this period of renewal - the new dawn - we essentially view corruption as an act of counter-revolution. It is counter-revolutionary precisely because it eats away at the moral credibility of the ANC.”
Ramaphosa admitted in his address that workers were not consulted in the decision to restructure Eskom.
A range of measures are to be put in place to save Eskom from collapse.
