The 65-year old President kicked off the campaign, by inviting Cape Town residents to walk 5 kilometers from the Gugulethu Sports Grounds to the Athlone Stadium early on Tuesday morning.

Scores of Capetonians heeded the call and turned out in their walking gear - despite some of them admitting it might be the only opportunity to catch a snap with the Head of State.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines during his walk, he said "I want my tummy to fall so I will continue to walk."

He however refused to answer whether a cabinet reshuffle is on the cards.

"Well this is the time to walk, to reflect even about cabinet and all that. So this gives me time to reflect as well."

Ramaphosa says the walks will become a common occurrence.

"I walk nearly every day. Next week we are going to another township here. I will be walking maybe three times a week, walking with our people. I am looking forward to that."
