Ramogokpa will be replaced by Thoko Didiza should the ANC retain the hotly-contested metro in the August 3 poll.

Ramogokpa highlighted his administration's achievements over the past five years in government, saying ratings agencies and audit outcomes have all given the city the thumbs-up.

Ramogokpa says the provision of free quality Wi-Fi in the metro has had a positive impact on business, education and research.

"But ultimately, the true test of our term of office, is the impact we have made on our citizens' lives. Have the lives of our people improved? Do they have better transport, more job opportunities, a roof over their heads, water and electricity, food to eat, and the opportunity to thrive in a bold new digital world?," said Ramokgopa.

He believes the interventions made an appreciable difference to ordinary South Africans' lives.

"We have done our best, but we know there is still much to do," said Ramokgopa

Ramokgopa urged his colleagues, across the political spectrum, to continue to serve the people with dignity and pride.

"In seven days, on the 3rd of August, our people will once again exercise their right to decide who will lead this metro," said Ramokgopa

Ramokgopa says the ANC remains ready, willing and able to continue to serve the people honestly, meticulously and judiciously.
