Rape charge laid against SAFA boss Danny Jordaan
Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
Former ANC MP and singer Jennifer Ferguson has laid a criminal charge of rape against SAFA boss Danny Jordaan.
Ferguson broke her silence about the alleged 1997 incident, when she accused him in a blog written at the end of last year.
In a statement released last week, Ferguson says: "My initial intent had been to settle this matter outside the process of legal prosecution. To this end, I offered Mr Jordaan the opportunity to engage with me in a meditative process outside legal action. Despite this offer, he chose not to engage with me and denied the allegation through a media statement. There are other survivors of sexual misconduct who will now stand with me."

Gauteng Police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini confirmed the charge was laid at the Parkview police station in Johannesburg last week and transferred to Port Elizabeth where the incident allegedly took place.
Ferguson says all she wants is justice.
"I do not seek monetary award, but justice for myself and every victim of abuse in this country in the hope that other survivors will be assisted to disclose and find justice, support and healing," she writes.
She is currently in South Africa for perform her show called #WeToo, which she wrote after going public with her accusations against Jordaan.
