Rhodes Park rape & murder suspect in court
A 24-year-old suspect in the horrific Rhodes Park rape and double murder case will on Tuesday appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.
The man is suspected of being part of a gang of 12 men that attacked two couples as they took a stroll inside Rhodes Park in Kensington, east of Johannesburg in October.
The gang tied the men up, threw them into the lake and left them to drown. The gang then raped one of the women. The other woman managed to get away before they could get to her.
Earlier in November police arrested a second suspect in Yeovil, Johannesburg. Police said the 22-year-old suspect was a Zimbabwe national.
Police are still probing the matter and they are confident they will find and arrest the rest of the gang.
