Risk of load shedding remains high, Eskom warns
Updated | By Nokukhanya Mntambo
Eskom has warned of possible load shedding following the breakdown of some of its power generating units over the weekend.
The power utility’s COO Jan Oberholzer says the continued loss of units has put immense pressure on the system.
"We've had to use quite a lot of emergency diesel as well as water so we didn't have the luxury to fill up our dams over the weekend.
"The system is under pressure at this time."
Oberholzer says he remains optimistic but the risk remains high.
"Our system still remains unpredictable and unreliable.”
Oberholzer has urged customers to use electricity sparingly to assist the utility in its work to recover the system.
