Four suspects robbed the school principal and two staff members at gunpoint on Friday.

Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubela says the robbers forced their way onto the premises by tying up the school’s security guards.

"They entered the office of the principle, pointed him with firearm and robbed him of his cellphone and brought him to the storeroom where they stole some school items."

Makhubela says the suspects fled with three laptops, four projectors, as well as the principle’s laptop, tablet, Ipad and car.

A tip-off from a member of the community led the police to two of the suspects.

"And they followed it up and they found the suspects at Winterfield, where two suspects were arrested,” says Makhubela.

Officers managed to recover some of the school’s equipment and the principle's car.

The suspects will be charged with possession of stolen property and robbery, while the hunt continues for the remaining two suspects.

The incident is the latest in a spate of robberies to have hit Gauteng schools.

In a high-profile robbery, an unknown number of suspects struck the newly refurbished Menzi Primary School on the East Rand, robbing the state-of-the-art facility of computers and other electronic equipment.

Police found some of the stolen equipment at a store in the Johannesburg CBD, and subsequently arrested four suspects who have already appeared in court.
