Roodepoort Rugby Club is says it
is investigating allegations of racism
during an under-21 game match against Wanderers
Rugby Club.
This follows a statement by Wanderers‚ in which it says their players reported to their coach that Roodepoort’s players were hurling racial insults at them.
A physical altercation broke out between players following the game.
Roodepoort’s Elsabe Booyes says the Golden Lions Rugby Union will convene a disciplinary tribunal early next week.

"We look forward to hearing the outcome and if any of the staff or the players have been found to have contravened the laws and club rules they will be dealt with accordingly," Booysen says.
She adds that the club is disappointed by Wanderers Rugby Club’s decision to make statements to the media ahead of the tribunal.
"We take matters of racism very seriously, particularly since it's our 75th anniversary year.
"We are a fully integrated club and we are dealing with this as a matter of urgency," Booysen says.
