‘SA must reclaim sovereignty’ – ANC launches campaign against undocumented immigrants
The ANC in Gauteng has launched a campaign that calls on law enforcement to clamp down on undocumented immigrants in the province.
The party was one of several groups protesting outside the Krugersdorp Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
It's where several suspects are appearing following an attack at a Krugersdorp mine dump last week in which eight women were raped.
Most of the suspects are facing immigration and firearm-related charges.
ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe says the country cannot afford to deal with crimes committed by people who are in the country illegally.

"We said we will stand on the protest line today to help reclaim our own sovereignty, to make sure that the ANC reassert, consolidate and reclaim its ability to lead society. South Africa is not a playground."
At the same time, Solidarity's head of occupational health and safety says authorities need to put an end to illegal mining.
Hanlie van Vuuren was speaking at the Mineral Council’s National Day of Health and Safety in Mining following the Krugersdorp attack.
"I appeal to the South African Police Services, mining houses, unions, community members to take hand and irradiate these atrocities from our mines and our mining communities."
