SA reaches 7 million mark in Covid-19 jabs

South Africa has reached the milestone of administering more than seven million Covid-19 vaccines.

Total number of doses administered reached 7 065 432 on Wednesday, when 194 891 vaccines were administered.
The government has ramped up the Covid-19 vaccine rollout after a slow start and coming under fire for waiting too long.
Many public servants are now vaccinated with the latest traffic officials who also started rolling up their sleeves on Wednesday.
Of the 194 891 doses administered on Wednesday, 74 996 were Johnson and Johnson and 119 895 was Pfizer doses.
Gauteng is leading with 47 662 administered in the last 24 hours - bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1 711 474.
KwaZulu-Natal administered 34 049 vaccines on Wednesday and a total of 1 348 157 doses have so far been administered since the beginning of the rollout in the province.
The Western Cape followed with 32 018 vaccines administered on Wednesday.
South African now has a total of 2 691 078 fully vaccinated adults.
