SA record another increase in Covid-19 hospital admissions

There has been an increase of another 720 people admitted to hospitals in the past 24 hours.
A total of 16 999 people are currently receiving Covid-19 treatment in both private and public hospitals.
According to the latest statistics released by the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD), a further 433 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 68 625.
The NICD says 14 858 new Covid-19 cases have been identified in South Africa on Thursday.
The institute says the increase represents a 26.5% positivity rate, out of the 55 981 new tests conducted on Thursday in both public and private facilities.
Gauteng recorded 4 988 new Covid-19 cases and accounts for 34% of the country’s cases, followed by the Western Cape with 22%.
KwaZulu-Natal accounts for 11%.
On the vaccine front, 238 020 vaccines were administered on Thursday.
