SA records over 3 000 new Covid-19 cases

South Africa has recorded 3 755 new Covid-19 cases, according to the latest statistics by the Department of Health.
This brings the total number of identified cases to 1 662 825.
The Department of Health on Sunday evening said that 76 more people died from Covid-19 complications since its last report.
Eastern Cape,KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and Mpumalanga recorded zero fatalities while Northern Cape province had only one death reported.
The Western Cape had 6, Free State 8, Gauteng 17 and North West recorded a high of 44.
This brings the country’s death toll to 56 439.
The country’s recoveries now stand at 1 556 874 representing a recovery rate of 93, 6%.
On the vaccine front, the total number of people vaccinated under the Sisonke Programme is 479 768.
The total vaccinated in Phase Two as of midnight was 488 551.
This brings the total individuals vaccinated both under Sisonke and Pfizer first dose to 968 319.
