SA records single biggest daily increase in Covid-19 cases

The number of Covid-19 cases in South Africa has shown its highest daily jump since the pandemic was first reported in the country.
In the 24 hours leading up to Friday evening, 785 new cases were recorded - bringing the total number of Covid-19 cases to 13 524.
The provinces that have recorded the largest increases are the Western Cape, the Eastern Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.

Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, says in a statement that a further 9 deaths have been recorded, bringing the total number of virus fatalities to 247.
Recoveries across the country now stand at 6083.
The current Covid—19 numbers are expected to increase as the country enters the winter season.
Experts have warned that South Africa is expected to hit its peak around August or September.
