SA sees another drop in Covid-19 cases

South Africa has recorded 7 209 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, a further slight decrase in the number of infections.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) says the figures recorded on Monday show that of everybody who did get tested, there was a positivity rate of 27.3%.
A further 221 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 67 080.
A total of 26,407 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, after there was a slight decline in the number of tests due to unrests in parts of Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
Gauteng has seen a slight decrease in the number of Covid-19 cases, with 2 617 cases identified in the last 24 hours.
The province accounts for 36% of the country’s cases, followed by the Western Cape with 17% and Mpumalanga accounted for 10%
The institute says the 7-day moving average daily number of cases has decreased.
There has been an increase of 533 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours, with 16 742 people currently admitted in both private and public facilities.
