SA sees spike in new daily Covid-19 cases

For the first time in months, South Africa has recorded more than 4 000 new Covid-19 infections.
This was confirmed by National Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize on Wednesday.
Statistics released by Mkhize show that the country recorded 4173 new Covid-19 in the 24 hours leading up to Wednesday evening.
This brings the total number of Covid-19 infections in South Africa to 796 472.

A further 65 deaths have been reported, with the Western Cape accounting for 30 of the virus related fatalities.
The Free State has also recorded a further 15 fatalities, followed by KwaZulu-Natal at 12.
Both the Eastern Cape and Gauteng recorded four fatalities.
The number of Covid-19 deaths now stands at 21 709.
