SA Weather Service: Cyclone Freddy has lost its momentum
Updated | By Princess Mahogo
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) says cyclone Freddy has weakened over the weekend.
The tropical storm is said to have lost its momentum.
Weather forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela says Freddy poses no further threat to the country.
The cyclone has shown signs of weakening due to the system changing its position.
Thobela says since making landfall in Mozambique on Friday, the tropical storm has gradually lost its momentum and will likely scatter most of its rainfall before reaching South Africa.
He says parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga are still likely to experience rainfall which might lead to flooding, hence the yellow level 2 warning for downpours.
Thobela has cautioned residents in the two provinces to take necessary precautions to protect themselves should any flooding occur.
