Ramasia briefed the media in Kempton Park yesterday amid the damaging industrial action at the cash strapped national carrier.

"The safety and security of our customers, our aircraft, our crew, and our employees are of paramount importance for us as South African Airways," said Ramasia.

Ramasia has threatened striking workers with arrest should they intimidate those who are not on strike.

She says security has been stepped up at airports to ensure the safety of workers and passengers.

"Let us be clear - describing some of our employees as traitors and threatening that we know where you are will not be tolerated by South African Airways," said Ramasia.

Ramasia says the carrier is currently considering some of the interventions made by the CCMA over the weekend.

She says no timeframe has been put on SAA's response to the demands.

While unions are calling for an industry-wide strike, Ramasia has warned that a secondary strike in the aviation industry would cause massive damage to the country's economy.
