SABC apologises to the President
Updated | By Neo Motloung
The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is set to
investigate what led to the broadcast of an unedited version of the speech by
President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday evening.
In the unedited version, Ramaphosa makes a mistake in his special address to the nation.
The president could then be seen saying "Let's start again; I made a mistake there."
The video clip went viral on social media with some accusing the president of being out of touch with the ills of society.
Following the saga, the public broadcaster apologised to the president and the nation for what the SABC calls an "unfortunate breach of news production processes."
"The SABC takes this issue very seriously and assures the president and the public that due processes will be followed and appropriate action taken," said SABC spokesperson Vuyo Mthembu.
