SABC board to be dissolved
Updated | By MornéJK
Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Communications on Wednesday took a unanimous decision to institute an inquiry into the fitness of the SABC Board.
This comes after two non-executive members of the SABC board, Krish Naidoo and Vusi Mavuso, announced their resignations before Parliament.
The SABC board was answering questions in front of the Portfolio Committee on Communications on various issues facing the public broadcaster, including the appointment of controversial former COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng as head of corporate affairs.
In a statement the Committee said it received a briefing from the SABC Board regarding, among other things, the Supreme Court of Appeal judgement involving Motsoeneng as well as governance challenges faced by some of the board members.

"After deliberations with the Board, the Committee reached a conclusion that there are serious challenges with the current Board that need urgent intervention," the statement read.
The statement further confirms that the Committee will write to the remaining members of the SABC board to give them the option of resigning before the inquiry starts.
