SABC sent packing by MPs
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) was sent packing from the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) on Wednesday.

The public broadcaster failed to provide information that the committee had requested on irregular expenditure amounting to R4.9bn.
"I think they have been attending a lot of parliamentary sessions and just assumed that Scopa operates at those levels, which is certainly not the case.
"They had assumptions that making general statements would fly with us, it doesn't. We deal with details, we want information so that we can be able to engage from an informed decision," says Scopa chairperson Themba Godi.
The SABC will be back in Parliament next week.
Hundreds of SABC employees are expected to take part in a protest against the retrenchments of workers on Friday.
The public broadcaster issued section 189 to more than 900 employees, detailing how it plans to cut a third of its work staff.
The SABC is currently insolvent, meaning they are not able to any of their suppliers.
The broadcaster is currently sitting at R7.26 billion in expenses compared to revenue of R640 million.
