‘Safety concerns’ see Blue Train suspend services
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The Blue Train has temporarily suspended its services to allow for a technical assessment.

The announcement was made by Transnet on Monday.
Spokesperson Ayanda Shezi says the suspension serves as a precautionary measure.
“As a precautionary measure following the recent incidents involving the Blue Train, management has taken the decision to temporarily suspend operations while the train undergoes a thorough technical assessment.”
Although Transnet has not stated when the train will be back on track, Shezi says the aim is to conclude the technical assessment as soon as possible.

“The safety of guests and crew on board the train remains a top priority, and will not be compromised.”
One person was arrested after a fire broke out in a coach while the train was in for repairs last week at Transnet’s engineering facility in Koedoespoort.
