SAHRC heading to court over Khayelitsha man’s eviction

Bulelani Qholani was bathing when the police knocked on his door on Wednesday.

"It is a horrific incident and I can't believe any human being can do that to another, his whole human dignity has been destroyed," says SAHRC commissioner Chris Nissen.

The City of Cape Town has suspended four officers pending its own investigation.

"We will investigate it and take it to the Equality Court. The victim, Mr. Qholani, intends on opening a criminal charge later today," adds Nissen.

He says the city acted unlawfully by evicting the community and will demand that they stop or face the Equality Court.
