SAMA: Sinovac approval limited
Updated | By Eva Chipa
The Sinovac coronavirus
vaccine has been included in South Africa's Covid-19 inoculation arsenal.

The National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC) has approved its use.
The vaccine is a two-dose inoculation developed by Sinovac/China National Pharmaceutical Group.
New Health Minister Joe Phaahla on Friday gave an update on the country's response to the pandemic.
But the chair of the South African Medical Association, Dr Angelique Coetzee, says for now Sinovac is still under evaluation.
“Regarding Sinovac, it is still under section 21 and there is limited approval as they still waiting for data as this is a rolling approvement for now.”
The Section 21 Unit of the South African Health Products Authority (SAHPRA), processes and evaluates access to unregistered medication within South Africa.
Coetzee says the country currently has three vaccines approved for use.
“We also know that we have Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and the third vaccine is AstraZenca and only then will Sinovac be used.”
