Samwu marches in Johannesburg

Samwu said their members have become targets in the City of Johannesburg.
The union's Johannesburg region marched to Mayor Parks Tau's office on Thursday.
Several Johannesburg metro service agencies such as Pikitup and the Roads Agency have been ravaged by strikes from workers aligned to Samwu.
The union now says their members have become targets of disciplinary processes by the metro agencies.
Johannesburg deputy regional chairperson Vuyani Singonzo said they have noticed the harassment and bullying of Samwu members in Johannesburg.
"We have observed the use of discipline as a means to wallop Samwu members using outdated disciplinary policies and procedures. Discipline in the City of Johannesburg is no longer used to correct the behaviour of those who transgress, but it is used to harass, intimidate and dismiss our members from their jobs," Singonzo said.
Samwu also said they have witnessed a pattern where their members were being overlooked for promotions. Samwu claims the city is not implementing the Employment Equity Act.
