Liberty Two Degrees, owners of Santon City and Nelson Mandela Square have confirmed that malls are trading as normal following warnings of potential terrorist attack in Sandton.

The United States Embassy in South Africa issued a warning to its citizens based in SA about such a possibility.
The embassy issued the warning on Wednesday where it urged its citizens to avoid large gatherings and crowds during the weekend of 29-30 October 2022.
The company says it is aware of the warning and continues to monitor the situation.
"The safety of all our shoppers, tenants, service providers and stakeholders is of paramount importance,” the company said in a statement on Thursday.
In partnership with the authorities, we are actively monitoring the situation and have appropriate security measures in place in and around Sandton City, which includes the Nelson Mandela Square, offices, hotels and the Sandton Convention Centre. The malls are currently trading as normal.”
Meanwhile, Johannesburg Mayor Mpho Phalatse says more visible policing resources have been deployed to the Sandton area.
"I have further requested the city’s Joint Operations Committee (JOC) to provide a full list of events taking place in Joburg over the coming days, which will be shared with law
enforcement authorities and National Government.
“The JOC is tasked with ensuring that all events held in Joburg are safe and that the event organisers comply with all by-laws and city regulations.
"The Multi-Party Government has prioritised safety and security and will avail any resources and support required by the SAPS and National Government to ensure the safety of Joburg residents and visitors.
"Without causing a panic, I would like to encourage residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the police," says Phalatse.
