SAPS need to continue with work done over festive season: Nhleko
Updated | By Maryke Vermaak
Police Minister Nathi Nhleko has implored officers to continue the good work after successes in fighting crime over the festive season.

Announcing the stats for the final three months of the year, Nhleko said co-operation between police and communities is a vital component in the fight against crime.
Nhleko says they now need to learn from their successes over the festive season and continue the progress into the rest of 2017.
"The question of a collaborative effort, firstly between state agencies is very critical, but also between state agencies such as the SAPS and others and community members are also very important," says Nhleko.
The minister also addressed the high number of deaths on South African roads.
Nhleko questioned why it was necessary for police to remind people not drink and drive and to reduce their speed, saying motorists need to take responsibility.
"The responsibility we must take first and foremost is not only of protecting yourself against danger, but also to protect others - to ensure you protect human life by the manner in which you behave," says Nhleko.
