South African Revenue Service (Sars) has fired its legal head Refiloe Mokoena in connection with an alleged VAT repayment to the controversial Gupta family.

The tax authority made the announcement on Friday.
Sars spokesperson Sicelo Mkosi says the decision to terminate her contract was taken after a disciplinary hearing chaired by a senior counsel from the Johannesburg Bar.
