SA’s Covid-19 death toll rises by 77

South Africa has recorded another 77 Covid-19-related deaths, according to the latest statistics released by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize on Friday.
The Eastern Cape, which is the country’s Covid-19 epicentre, had 29 fatalities in the latest reporting period.
There were 21 deaths in the Free State and 11 in the Western Cape.
Seven more people succumbed to complications from the virus in KwaZulu-Natal, while Gauteng and Limpopo each reported another 4 deaths.
Mpumalanga had a single fatality.

This brings the cumulative number of Covid-19-related deaths to 20 153.
The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the country now stands at 746 945 with 2 213 new cases.
The country’s recovery rate stands firm at 92,7%.
