Relief as Sassa, CPS reach new grant agreement
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has reached a new agreement with Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) to ensure 17 million South Africans recieve their grants on April 1.

It comes after the Constitutional Court ruled the current agreement invalid in 2014.
According to a statement by the Social Development Department late last night, the new agreement comes after three days of tense negotiations between the department, SASSA and CPS.
There were widespread concerns over SASSA's ability to find a solution, amid confusion over the way forward and the withdrawal of a new application at the Constitutional Court earlier this week.
While it is still unclear whether the new agreement is in line with the court's findings, the statement says Social Development minister Bathabile Dlamini will brief the media on the new details in coming days.
