SASSA resolves ‘technical glitches’, system remains slow
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) says it has managed to resolve technical glitches experienced on Friday.
The agency’s WhatsApp lines encountered difficulties due to the high volume of traffic as a result of the launch of the reapplication process for the R350 Covid-19 grant.
Spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi says the system had approximately 2000 applications per minute.

“We can also says that our IT section is working 24 hour around the clock to make sure that the system is up and running. It has not collapsed yet but it is very slow because of the number of people who are making applications per minute.
“And I think as the SASSA we do understand that those applications would come as many. What we can say is that we want to advise applications that Friday was not the last day as applications will run until the end of August.”
