The National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union (Nehawu) has called off its strike at the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) offices.

The union made the announcement on Friday.
The union embarked on a national strike on Wednesday, demanding the suspension of the biometric enrollment of beneficiaries.

It managed to reach an agreement with Social Development Minister Susan Shabangu and the social security agency on Friday morning.
Nehawu's spokesperson Khaya Xaba says its members are expected to return to work on Monday.
Xaba states the strike that lasted for three days will not affect the payments of social grant beneficiaries.
“Our workers will return to work and ensure that beneficiaries and anything run smooth,” says Xaba.
Xaba says the biometric enrollment system will in the meantime be suspended as more test will be conducted to make sure there are no future errors.
