On Friday, a vehicle was also swept away by the Hennops River in Centurion and the body was recovered on Sunday morning.

Mabaso says emergency personnel had to wait for the water to subside before the rescue mission could commence in the Clubview area.

"It's a recovery in the Hennops Centurion River, that vehicle was swept off when we had the rain on Friday.

"The search could not be continued on Saturday because of the high waters. When the water water subsided yesterday there was a further search hence the recovery of the body yesterday."

The rain over the weekend has caused havoc in Gauteng and especially in Tshwane.

Some 900 people have been relocated to community halls in various aras following severe flash floods from Centurion in the south to Mamelodi in the east.
