The Gauteng police and a team from the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) are continuing the search for a 44-year-old man who went missing at Hartbeespoort dam.

It is understood that the man went missing on Thursday while his wife and children were watching from the shore.
NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon says the man was fishing on a canoe near Eagle Waters.
“SIU and the South African Police Services initiated a search operation. Despite the extensive search, no sign of the missing Pretoria man was found,” he says.
“It appears that while celebrating a family birthday, the canoe that the Pretoria man was fishing 100 meters from the shore, filled with water and capsized after getting caught in fishing nets.”
The family reported that he had disappeared underwater on Friday and on Saturday, the South African police services and police divers, supported by a police vessel in NSRI Hartbeespoort dam using an NSRI rescue craft and SRU, continued an extensive search operation, says Lambinon.
