Senior Mpumalanga ANC official, stepson in court for rape

A senior African National Congress (ANC) official from Mpumalanga and his stepson (26) appeared in the Nelspruit Magistrate Court on Monday on charges of rape.
The matter has been postponed on October 1 for a formal bail application.
The ANC official sits on the party’s provincial executive committee (PEC) and is a former MEC in the province.

"The victims are eight years old. The incident was reported by one of the victims who told her teacher, she also said she saw it happened to her twin sister," says the provincial spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Monica Nyuswa.
The suspects will remain in custody.
