A senior Hawks member in Mpumalanga was shot and killed in Lydenburg on Tuesday morning in a suspected hit.

Le Roy Bruwer was gunned down while on his way to work.
Bruwer was driving on the R37 when the assailants approached him, firing a number of fatal shots.
According to Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi the incident happened just outside the Nelspruit city centre.
"High-calibre firearms were used to kill him and as such there has been a case that has been opened.
"We don't know the motive."
Mulaudzi adds the 49-year-old man was a seasoned investigator and was involved in numerous high-profile cases in Mpumalanga.
"He was investigating the rhino killings in Mpumlanaga, the CIT's that were also a problem in Mpumalanga.
"With our work we never know when things are going to happen. There's a lot of criminals that we deal with and unfortunately we believe that it's a criminal act that transpired today."
