Senzo Meyiwa lawyer blames arrest on Bheki Cele
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Advocate Malesela Teffo, who represents four of the accused in the murder trial of former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa, has been arrested.
He was arrested shortly after Thursday’s proceedings in the High Court in Pretoria for allegedly failing to appear in court on a separate matter.
In an afternoon of high drama, a group of heavily armed police officers waited for court proceedings to adjourn before swooping on him.
Speaking to the media during his arrest, Teffo said he doesn’t know why he is being arrested.
"It is part of harassment, as I told the court earlier on and the so-called warrant of arrest is from January this year and why are they only arresting me now? They are arresting me because I am in this case, Police Minister Bheki Cele doesn't want me on this case."
He was taken to the Hillbrow police station.
The murder trial has been postponed to 30 May.
