Seven dead in N1 crash

Seven people have died in a crash on the N1 in Limpopo.

The authorities say two vehicles collided head-on on Sunday afternoon.
Limpopo health department spokesperson Thabiso Teffo says the crash happened on the N1 between Mokopane and Mookgopong.
The circumstances surrounding the collision are still unclear and will form part of a police investigation.

It’s understood the crash happened after a driver lost control of his vehicle and collided with oncoming traffic.
Limpopo police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe says: “The drivers of two vehicles and five passengers died on impact. Two passengers, including a child of about two years old sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Mokopane Hospital."
He says the identities of the deceased are still being determined and their names will only be released after the next-of kin have been notified.
