"[The] seven arrests of speedsters... included a 30-year-old male driver in a Mercedes Benz sedan clocked at the blazing speed of 216km/h," Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said.
The driver of the Mercedes Benz, arrested just before 7am in a 120km/h zone, claimed he was rushing to catch a flight.
During the hour-and-a-half operation, EMPD also arrested six other motorists for driving at speeds ranging from 161km/h to 186km/h.
"All the arrested drivers were charged with reckless and negligent driving at Edenvale police station and later released after posting bail of R1500 each."
They would appear in the Edenvale Magistrate's Court soon.
