Several parts of the City of Tshwane were plunged into darkness on Friday following power trips and cable theft.
The widespread power outages affected residents in the north and east of the city.
The power outage in Onderstepoort, in the north, was caused by cable theft and is only expected to be fully restored by Friday evening,
It's unclear when power will be fully restored in the eastern suburbs.
"The city's technicians managed to supply most of the residents with back feed power supply except for Onderstepoort SP 70 (the area around University of Pretoria)," says spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.
"The entire Mamelodi has also been affected after a 132kv isolator burnt," says Mashigo.
"In a separate incident, an 11 kv trip affecting Mooikloof, Moreleta and Faerie Glen was reported. Both these incidents occurred after technicians switched power back on to the affected areas following a major trip at Njala substation this morning."
