Residents woke up to traffic chaos and pools of water in their backyards on Friday morning, and a forecast of more thundershowers in the afternoon.

Joburg emergency services spokesperson Xolile Khumalo told Jacaranda FM News early on Friday morning that teams have been working throughout the night and in early hours of the morning.

"The EMS team has been split into two with one working in Kliptown and the other in Florida Lake.
